Business Profile

About Us Haydon is superbly equipped. In recent years over £5 million has been spent on new buildings and refurbishment providing Science Laboratories, a new Art & Design building and the Sixth form Common Room. In June 2012, we were delighted to be informed that we had received funding from the Department for Education which will go towards a £2 million extension to the St Mary’s Building providing new facilities for music and drama ensuring that all of the performing arts are in one area of the school. The work will start in October 2012 and be completed by September 2013.
In June 2007 Haydon was inspected by Ofsted and we are delighted to tell you that it was declared ‘Outstanding’ in every category. We recently received a letter from Ofsted who had re-monitored our progress and carried out an interim assessment. Their judgement was that “the school’s performance has been sustained”, which is very pleasing.

Part of the reason for this success is that Haydon is a happy school where staff and students respect each other. Ofsted noted the ‘particularly positive relationships between teachers and students ensure an excellent climate for learning’.
This is clearly borne out by our examination results. In 2012, the Year 13 A-level results were equal to the best that the school has ever produced: 54% of grades were at A* to B and 78% at A* to C. The total number of students going on to University in September 2012 currently stands at 177. Of these 3 are going to Oxford, 1 to Cambridge, 2 students are going to study medicine and 49 to Russell Group Universities. At GCSE, 90% of our year 11 students gained 5 A* to C passes or better and 69% of students gained 5 A* to C passes including English and Mathematics.
